Advocacy

Advocacy can be defined as actions that speak in favor of, recommends, argues for a cause, supports or defends, or pleads on behalf of others. Upon my enrollment at the University of Delaware, I was shocked to see the world of difference the culture of University of Delaware is in comparison to Newark, Delaware - the town I called home since I was five. People were not aware of the considerations I held, but through Blue Hen Leadership Program, I brought forth my perspective as an individual who identifies with the LGBT+ Community, Filipino, an Immigrant, and as a Delawarean. Through my perspective, I made strides in enlightening, educating, and inspiring individuals to stand up and speak out for their beliefs while paying careful attention to the changemakers that came before us.
