first step 2019
First Step Grand Challenges is an innovation competition supported by the HORN Entrepreneurship. The competition served as an opportunity for University of Delaware students to focus on a local healthcare issue and to develop a solution to that problem through innovative means.

First-year student drug/alcohol abuse survey
For my team, we wanted to tackle drug abuse and the implications. Our main target was first-year students and we wanted to gauge their perceptions of drug & alcohol abuse. We identified in our problem pitch that although students claimed that drug usage is not a problem at the University of Delaware, we wanted to paint a picture on what drug addiction would look like since it can be far more invisible.
"My opioid experience" board
Upon meeting with Rita Landgraf, our team decided to pivot and focus on the opioid crisis. We put up a board for community members in Wilmington to write down their experiences with opioid or with a loved one dealing with an opioid addiction.
The board was posted in Greenhill Pharmacy in Wilmington, Delaware. Many individuals are effected by the opioid crisis, as shown with the "Never Alone, Never Again" message and dates of a family member's death.
