tier 3: community fellows teaching assistant
For my final semester of undergrad, I took upon a teaching assistant role for BHLP's Community Fellows LEAD340 course. I enjoyed the class aspect of Tier 3 as it allowed me to learn more about non-profits, practice project organization, and contribute to my community. As TA, I developed powerpoints for volunteer management and served as a pivot point for the students and their liaisons and had the opportunity to oversee 13 teams.
Teaching assistant
As TA, I helped grade reflections and papers. My favorite part of this position was reading the reflections of the Work on Purpose assignment because it was based on value-identification and I was able to learn more about the students in the class.
One student noted that they were grateful to have their responses read because it showed that we cared and many professors do not take care into reading each assignment. Another student used me as a resource for an interview and I helped her prepare, pushing her to present the best version of herself and talk about her accolades, she ended up getting the job!
For the SWOT project, I read through the SWOTs for the five teams and developed a matrix for how I personally graded the assignment and gave specific commentary for each, giving suggestions on improvements and providing support on how excited I was to hear about their project ideas.
